GARDEN PHOTOGRAPHIC STUDIES
About
01 Introduction
Gina Dover-Jaques’s work explores the relationship between garden experts and the cultivated landscapes they study, interpret, and care for. Through a distinct analogue photographic methodology, specialists are photographed within the natural process of observation and assessment, allowing their professional engagement with the landscape to unfold authentically and without direction.
Developed as a research-led, non-commercial collaborative practice, the work combines observational photography with reflective post-shoot questions devised by the artist, extending each encounter beyond the photographic moment and into a structured interpretive framework.
The resulting articles form an editorial record of each photographic engagement, integrating observational imagery with reflective dialogue to articulate the layered relationship between expertise, care, and cultivated landscape.
